Graphic designing, nowadays, is much easier than baby play. With a few tools and a mid-range laptop, everyone can edit a few photos, even if one or two filers are attached to the photos.

But if you are thinking of taking it to the professional level, you must look for the best laptops for graphic designers available in the market that fall within your budget.

Disk SpeedScreen ResolutionProcessor SpeedMemory

1) Disk Speed :

The speed of the storage disk plays an important role in the performance of your device. High speed ensures that your programs will launch quickly and work without any lag. They are based on a huge array of memory chips.

Both have their advantages and disadvantages.  Hard disks are cheaper than SSD drives. In fact, you can get the same amount of storage as SSD but at less than half the price.

Solid state drives are extremely durable and much faster than hard disks, because they have no moving parts.

So, if you plan to carry a hard disk drive, make sure that it meets the minimum speed requirements of 7200 rpm disk.

Where for storage, 1 TB drive is more than enough, but 2 TB will not be a bad choice.

2) Screen Resolution :

As far as the capabilities of your monitors are concerned, all you have to do is make sure that they have a resolution of at least 1280 * 800 pixels.

Nothing less than this is not acceptable and you will be unable to run the software of your choice.

Moreover, a wide range of devices on display in the market are twisted nematic (TN) panels, as they are much cheaper and, consequently, much more common;  But the quality of the color they produce is not good.

So your search for a laptop with great graphic design will only be effective if the display of your device is based on a VA (Vertical Alignment) panel or an IPS monitor.

Retina displays can also be a great choice if you decide to go above and beyond. You can infer the greatness of retina displays from a typical monitor that features a standard resolution of aw2 ppi (pixels per inch), but a retina display can go up to 401 ppi.

3) Processor Speed :

Currently, the software needed for graphic designing is resource-hungry and will require any system with a speed of 1 GHz processor (or CPU).

Anything higher than that is recommended (e.g. 1 GHz is the minimum limit). And if you can afford it, it's best to look for the machine faster.

4) Memory :

Don’t confuse it with storage memory stuffs as it’s a completely different thing. You get it!  We are talking about RAM which is the first thing that works in the mind of the system.

For hands-on purposes, an 8GB RAM provides the best environment for most programs, but go for a higher if you can afford it.

Graphic Design Laptop RAM vs. Processor (Which Should Be Higher?)

As we mentioned above these values are only the minimum, but there is no denying that you can further improve your system.

Since the CPU is already in the GHz range, there is no noticeable increase in computer performance for higher processors. Therefore, if you go for 16 or 32 GB of RAM, this money can be spent in a better way.

Need to go for a Mac or Windows based laptop?

It's a common misconception that Macs are the perfect machine for artists looking for graphic design laptops, while Windows devices are more suited to official purposes, although it's true that Apple has been dominating the market for decades. There will be nothing more than an old biased claim.

In fact, almost all graphic design applications and software work perfectly in both OS X and Windows. However, Windows devices are highly customizable and affordable.

In addition, it helps if your OS is compatible with your clients. So, the final answer depends on how you answer this question: What can you afford?  Are you comfortable with that?

End Row :

Remember that the laptops you choose should not have a “cool look”, but should meet your needs. Once you have selected the best graphic design laptops you will need study, hard work, practice and talent.
